Line Sigvardsen Jensen…say that five times fast, with Danish accent! Line (prounounced lee-nuh) is #7 for the Washington Spirit. She is a midfielder, and aside from her tenacious defensive play is probably most noticeable because of her naturally bright blonde hair.
She is one of two internationals for us this year, and although she looks vaguely Swedish, she is from Denmark. She signed with the Spirit last year mid-season after playing 7 seasons with Champions League staple Fortuna Hjørring. She has 54 caps with the Danish national team having just placed third at the Algarve Cup in March. She’ll join her national team for their European championship run this coming July.
When Line is home in Denmark, she works at the hospital for most of the working day, and then makes her way to practice in the evenings. She completed her nursing degree just recently and enjoys assisting others and keeping them healthy. She has a younger sister and misses her family and also how easily it is to bike around the city when she’s home in Denmark.
